InstantInit is a very small application designed to initialize disks in the shortest possible time, which ranged from 1 to 3 seconds in tests that we conducted. Your actual performance time may vary, but it'll be fast! No more waiting forever to initialize your disks -- InstantInit offers virtually "instant" initialization!
GETTING STARTED
Double-click on the InstantInit application. You will be asked if you want to register yet. Click on the "Not Yet" button. Now insert a disk you want to initialize, and almost immediately your disk will be ejected. Your disk is now fully initialized. If you wish to continue initializing disks, insert the disk(s) you wish to initialize. Otherwise, click on the "Quit" button to exit the program. The latest version of all our products can always be found on our website at <http://www.wto.com>.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
InstantInit requires a Macintosh Plus or later with a FDHD or SuperDrive and System Software 7.0 or later. InstantInit is a fat binary application, which means that it will run normally on a 68k Macintosh, as well as accelerated native on a Power Macintosh!
REGISTERING
If you use this program, you need to pay a small fee of $10. This is the cost for a single-user license. Site licenses are available at reduced rates. The Register program will automatically calculate the correct rate for the number of licenses you order. Not only will registering fulfill your legal (and moral) obligation, but when you register, you will receive a code that will allow you to eliminate that annoying registration notice, entitle you to free upgrades to all versions 1.x (and 2.x if there is one, although a major revision is not planned at this time), and use the software for more than 20 days. Registering is REQUIRED BY LAW and gives us the incentives and funds we need to develop new and exciting shareware products. Please be sure to include your name and address when registering.
To register, open the Register program that accompanies InstantInit. Enter your name, your postal address, your e-mail address (if you have one), and the number of user licenses you desire for each program you wish to purchase. Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi. Kagi handles our payment processing.
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgment when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct Internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgment.

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical. If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the Register program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment. Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on our behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.
Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash, Check or Invoice as the payment method. Without the payment, the form cannot be processed. Payments sent via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing, although usually much less. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed and will receive your personal registration code. If you do not have an email address, please enter your complete postal address so that we can send you your registration code and please remember, we do not know what country you live in so please enter that into the postal address also.

HOW IS MY DISK DIFFERENT FROM A DISK INITIALIZED NORMALLY?
The InstantInit initialized disk is practically identical to a disk initialized by the Finder. However, InstantInit does not write to every single byte on the entire disk, as the Finder often does. This dramatically speeds up the initialization. If the disk contains defective sectors it is possible that InstantInit could overlook that fact. However, the Finder's initialization scheme is not fail-safe either and could also overlook defective sectors. In today's world, most disks are now guaranteed to be non-defective by the manufacturers, eliminating this problem. Please note that InstantInit DOES verify the bytes that it writes to disk, so even in the unlikely event that a disk was defective, there is a good chance that InstantInit would discover that fact.
KNOWN PROBLEMS
There is a known problem when initializing brand new floppy disks which are completely unused. Any disk that has been previously used for anything, even initialized for another operating system (such as Windows), is not affected by this problem. This problem only occurs with certain brands of floppies. Note that you will be alerted to this problem by InstantInit as soon as it begins to initialize. If a disk is ejected without an error message, it has been successfully initialized and you do not need to worry about this problem.

assigns. Any action or proceeding brought by either party against the other arising out of or related to this agreement shall be brought only in a state or federal court of competent jurisdiction located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The parties hereby consent to in personam jurisdiction of said courts.
All expenses resulting from a bounced check are solely the responsibility of the user of The Software.
The Software may be copied and distributed freely, provided that it is distributed whole and in unmodified form and no fee is charged for distribution, including a fee for the media through which The Software is distributed. Any party distributing The Software for any fee, all inclusive, or along with another product, must have advance written permission from Wolf Technologies, Inc. If you use The Software for more than 20 days, you are required to purchase a registered copy. The Software may not be modified, rented, sublicensed, leased, conveyed, translated, converted to another form, decompiled, reverse engineered, reduced to human perceivable form, or disassembled for any purpose without written permission from Wolf Technologies, Inc. in advance.
Government End Users: If you are acquiring this software on behalf of any unit or agency of the United States Government, the following provisions apply. The Government agrees: (i) if this software is supplied to the Department of Defense (DoD), the software is classified as "Commercial Computer Software" and the Government is acquiring only "restricted rights" in the software, its documentation and fonts as that term is defined in Clause 252.227-7013(c)(1) of the DFARS; and (ii) if the software is supplied to any unit or agency of the United States Government other than DoD, the Government's rights in the software, its documentation and fonts will be as defined in Clause 52.227-19(c)(2) of the FAR or, in the case of NASA, in Clause 18-52.227-86(d) of the NASA Supplement to the FAR.
